The 32.5-megapixel crop sensor is the whole argument here: a distant bird still holds up after a heavy crop. Keep ISO low, because the same resolution that gives you reach also means small photosites that show noise earlier than a lower-resolution body would.

Forty-five points, every one cross-type, is unusual at any price — most bodies quote a total and only some are cross-type. Cross-type sensors read detail in both directions, which is why this array holds onto erratic movement.

The screen folds out and rotates, which matters more for video than any sensor spec. One card slot means the footage has no live backup, so copy off at the end of every day.
